Hi there, how y'all doin' ?
In other words, hello, how are you?
This is Joyce (Miller) Wilkinson
from Houston, Texas in the USA.
After leaving BGS and receiving a degree in Physiology from the University of Sheffield, I spent a
short career at the Radiochemical Center in Bucks. Along came Colin, we were married, and off
to live in a tent in Ghana ---then known as the "white man's grave"! So began our life in the
international community.
Next, we were back in England for a while, started a family, while Colin explored the North Sea,
then left for Egypt --- where we had the opportunity to enjoy the Catacoombs, Pyramids and
Western Desert. Our next adventure, though it grieves my English background to say it, was to
leave the land of bondage for the promised land --- of Oklahoma! A short two year assignment
turned into a lifetime in The States, living in Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.
We now think of ourselves as being "mid-Atlantic" folks, England is still "home", but our life and
family are in the US. So where else should we be but with our two children and four
grandchildren.
In retirement we have begun a new adventure. We are planning on moving house, and this year
will not only see the grandchildren (in Oklahoma and Connecticut), but visit England, vacation
in Hawaii, work on a mission hospital in Kenya and greet the year 2000 in Patagonia.
Looking forward to seeing you (I hope we have LARGE name tags!").
